“Adrenaline Africa”—Adventure feature by Maria Kamau
A curated selection of high-energy experiences across East, West, and Southern Africa.
When I reached out to Kenya Airways to pitch this story, my intention was simple: to show what “adventure” can look like for everyday travellers—women like you and me who still want to feel safe, grounded, and supported, even while our hearts are racing a little.
In “Adrenaline Africa”, I take you on a whistle-stop tour of some of my favourite high-energy experiences that go beyond standard sightseeing, while still feeling accessible:
- White-water rafting on some of Kenya’s most dynamic rivers
- Abseiling beside some of Kenya’s most dramatic waterfalls
- Hot-air balloon rides over otherworldly landscapes
- Quad-biking and sand adventures by the coast and desert
- Iconic bungee-jump spots across the continent, set in dramatic landscapes.
Each experience is rated from gentle to full-on “insanely wild”, with ideas for where to go, who it works best for, and how you could weave it into a bigger trip.
